Customs exec cites reasons for high tax take

The Bureau of Customs in Limay town, Bataan province had been reinforced with efficient, competent employees and Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero implemented the campaign on values transformation in the bureau which could be among the reasons why the Port of Limay had been outstanding in the collection of customs duties and other taxes.

Limay District Collector Atty. William B. Balayo said, from January 2022 to April 2022, the Port of Limay collected a total of P35.6 billion compared to P18.7 billion of the same period in 2021.

For 2021, the Port’s total collection reached P71.8 billion with total surplus of P12.9 billion.

Balayo said the increase in collection could also be attributed to the high cost of oil products. When the oil price goes up, tumataas din ang collection, he said.

Balayo assumed as collector of Port of Limay in February 2021. Mariveles sub-port is under his jurisdiction.
